Three Trojans and two Bruins landed on the All Metro Wrestling’s second team. From Oak Ridge, Brandon Claiborne (138 pounds), Ryan Redhair (145) and Bishane Sagal (182) were selected as was Colin Hustrulid (138) and Trae Providence (160) from Ponderosa. All five were state qualifiers. Folsom’s Jerod Nooner (195), a former Bruin, also made the All State second team.

Former Oak Ridge pitcher Kyle Porter, a senior at Cal, set careers highs in strikeouts (11) and innings pitched (eight and two-thirds) in the Bears’ 5-4 victory over Utah Saturday night in Berkeley. Porter retired 18 straight batters at one point but was pulled after issuing a walk with two out in the ninth.
Sarah Phillis, a freshman from Union Mine now at Colorado Mesa University, slugged a grand slam Saturday in the second game of a double-header. Phillis also drove home the Mavericks’ lone run in the first game.
Bob Keller used a driver to aced the second hole from 256 yards out at Cold Springs Golf and Country Club.
