Thirteen local players were selected to participate in last Saturday’s Youth Shrine Bowl football game at Hughes Stadium in Sacramento.
Representing the South from Ponderosa: Clayton Macauley, Garrett Kay, Scott Martin, Nicholas Bera and Zachary Miller. From Oak Ridge: Michael Pittman, William Hayden, Jake Topping and Chase Siegel. From Union Mine: Juan De Sales and Hank Hasemeir. From Golden Sierra: Mulder Prust and Elijah Dufault.
The North prevailed 18-0. The annual game benefits Sacramento Youth Football and Bel Ali Shriners. Players from Saturday’s game have a chance to get invited to next month’s California-Florida Youth Shrine Bowl in Orlando, Fla.
Note: As of press time, the Democrat had been informed of Macauley’s invite to Orlando.
