Troubleshooting Website access

Having trouble registering or logging into the Mountain Democrat’s website? Take a look through this page to find a solution.

I’m a current print subscriber. How do I access the website?

When you visit mtdemocrat.com and click on a story before logging in, you will be presented with the “Membership Options” page (also available by visiting mtdemocrat.com/membership). On this page, you will see a link to register as a subscriber. After clicking the link to register as a subscriber, you will be presented with a page requesting your registration information. Please select a username that is unique and easy to remember and be sure to double-check the e-mail address you enter. Also, be sure to include your full delivery address with zip code. After submitting your information, your password to login will be e-mailed to you with a link to login.

Since the default password the website creates for you is likely comprised of a string of uppercase and lowercase letters and may be difficult to type, we recommend you copy and paste your password from the registration e-mail into the login field.

After logging in, when reading a story, you will see a link on the right that will allow you to change your password to something easier to remember.

Please watch the following video which overviews this process:

I’m not a current subscriber but I want to read a story on mtdemocrat.com. What are my options?

We offer a number of convenient options that allow you access to mtdemocrat.com for a set time or you can take advantage of the value of a monthly online subscription or a low-cost print and online subscription bundle. Please view all the subscription options at mtdemocrat.com/membership. You may pay for your online access or subscription using PayPal, which also allows you to use a credit card if you do not have a PayPal account. After you select a subscription option and pay via PayPal, you will be presented with a page requesting your registration information. Please select a username that is unique and easy to remember and be sure to double-check the e-mail address you enter. Your password to login will then will be e-mailed to you with a link to login.

I registered as a subscriber, but I never received a confirmation e-mail containing my password.

First, ensure that you entered your e-mail address correctly when registering. If your e-mail address was not typed correctly, this could be the reason the e-mail never made it to your inbox. To verify your e-mail address, visit the “Lost your password” page, enter your e-mail address into the empty field and click the “Get New Password” box. If the system alerts you that no user is registered with that e-mail address, your e-mail was likely not entered correctly when you registered. Please contact us so we can modify the e-mail address associated with your account.

Second, if you’re certain the correct e-mail was used when you registered, check your e-mail program or e-mail provider’s spam, filtered messages, or junk mail folders to ensure the e-mail containing your password was not considered spam upon receipt. Some e-mail programs or providers may filter messages from us. To help ensure they don’t, add support@mtdemocrat and wordpress@mtdemocrat.net to your address book. After doing so, you may request a new password be sent to you by visiting the “Lost your password” page and entering the username or e-mail address used to originally register with the website.

Third, request a new password be sent to you by visiting the “Lost your password” page and entering the username or e-mail address used to originally register with the website.

If none of these options solved your issue, and you’re still not receiving a e-mail with your password, please contact us.

I have received a confirmation e-mail with my password, but I still cannot login using it.

The temporary password you were sent contains a string of numbers and uppercase and lowercase letters. This password can be difficult to both read and memorize. Consequently, we recommend you copy and paste your password from your registration e-mail into the login field on the website rather than attempt to type it. If this method is still not working, please request a new password by clicking here, then follow the instructions above.

After successfully logging onto the website, we recommend you change your password to something easier to remember. Do so by clicking here.

How can I change my password for mtdemocrat.com?
