Venus Review

Venus retrograde in Capricorn has us looking back at the ways in which the older generation showed love, affection, celebration and caring. This is a week to determine which traditions we want to carry forward and which to leave in the past. If this is not done consciously, it still will be done. Awareness is what really makes the season bright.

ARIES (March 21-April 19). If you keep going to the same sources for excitement, what you get will cease to be exciting. See what else is out there. To please you, it doesn’t have to be bigger and better; it just has to be new.

TAURUS (April 20-May 20). Is there anything wetter than water? Is there anything hotter than fire? What you need to know today may seem like a strange thing to ask, but ask it anyway, because you’ll be among brilliant minds.

GEMINI (May 21-June 21). Delusions aren’t always symptoms of mental disorder. Just because they challenge and contradict what’s generally accepted as reality doesn’t mean they are unhealthy or even untrue.

CANCER (June 22-July 22). One person seems to receive you with more clarity than everyone else. When this person reflects your most brilliant qualities, you can take it as hard evidence that this is a truly special connection.

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22). When you feel safe and comfortable, you perform better. That’s why wearing weather-appropriate clothing and the right shoes could make a significant contribution to your success.

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22). At certain times in your life, you’ve cared more about social acceptance than at other times. Right now, on a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being caring a great deal, you care about a 1. And that’s why you’re so popular.

LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 23). Birds of a feather, the saying goes — although you may look around your “flock” today and think that you’re nothing like them. There’s a reason for why you’re flying in this group, though. Can you tell what it is?

SCORPIO (Oct. 24-Nov. 21). You can’t expect yourself to get where you’re going without training. Put in the hours. The way to make it to the end of the course is to get over a small hurdle and then another and another.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21). When you’re presenting a product to the world, it’s important that you know how it compares with the other competing products. But you’re not a product. Comparing is just a bad idea now.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19). Don’t agonize. Do the work with a smile on your face. If it’s the kind of work you can’t seem to do that way, then skip it. Tomorrow is another day.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18). Does it seem you’re getting smarter, noticing more and connecting with others on deeper levels? These are the spoils of taking on greater responsibility.

PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20). What works in theory doesn’t always pan out in practice. Put your ideas to the test, and when they work, test them again to make sure it wasn’t a fluke.

TODAY’S BIRTHDAY (Dec. 22). Success can be a seductive trap, but when you win at life, you turn the victory into an opportunity to help and promote others. That’s why you’ll slowly grow more powerful and stay balanced and grounded at the same time. Love and adventure are featured in January. You’ll gain maturity in February. Pisces and Libra people adore you. Your lucky numbers are: 30, 33, 2, 39 and 41.

FORECAST FOR THE WEEK AHEAD: Last week’s solstice and the change of Venus and Uranus will color the days to come in foggy hues. Whether the mysterious play of light and shadow creates lovely or unsightly pictures depends on individual interpretation. A creative and positive attitude can spin whatever arises into a favorable circumstance. The short days can be seen as cold, or they can be seen as excellent reasons to be close and warm. Long dark nights mean more time for lights to sparkle and magic to happen.

Mercury enters Capricorn on December 24th, and traditions will be discussed at length throughout the week. It’s an excellent time to decide which practices are best upheld for the next generation. Perhaps there are some traditions that could use some freshening up — a new twist to carry them into the future. Of course, the holiday season also has a way of bringing up unhelpful practices, behaviors and family dynamics that are best put to rest. It’s always better to make conscious decisions than to unconsciously fall into patterns for better or worse.

The harmonious Libra moon on December 25th declares, “Peace on earth and good will to all!”

CELEBRITY PROFILES: “Dog with a Blog” star G. Hannelius will star with “The Soprano’s” star Jamie-Lynn Sigler in the comedy “Jonah and the Whale.” These earth-sign actresses have much in common. Sigler knows what it’s like to be a child actress, as she has been acting professionally since the age of 7. Hannelius was born when the sun and Venus were in Capricorn, indicating business savvy beyond her years.
