Appetite Moon

This Taurus moon of appetites may overstimulate a few who let their greed get the best of them. Most people are good and are doing their best to improve. Don’t let a couple of shady characters shake your belief in humanity. “Humanity is an ocean; if a few drops of the ocean are dirty, the ocean does not become dirty.” — Mahatma Gandhi

ARIES (March 21-April 19). You have the power to shape the way people work together. Your own success will depend on your ability to get others to commit to and deliver on a common goal.

TAURUS (April 20-May 20). You’ll be drawn to the things that deepen and widen your sense of self. Loving, exploring, reading and writing are some of the endeavors that help you expand the depths of your soul.

GEMINI (May 21-June 21). The decent thing to do is to show up and try to do the right thing. Sometimes this seems like the bare minimum requirement for being a good person, although right now it’s more like a herculean effort.

CANCER (June 22-July 22). Everyone around you will feel the direction your energy leans in, though it may be difficult for you to objectively see it. That’s why any feedback you get from them is valuable and actionable.

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22). When you’re with that special someone who delights you, your senses come alive. Your mind becomes at once active, open and intentional. Your energy becomes playful. Maybe you’re in love!

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22). You’re too vigilant of a person to accept that life is about sheer enjoyment. However, the small things you do to make your experience just a little bit nicer will increase the pleasure level for you and those around you.

LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 23). The deadline just ahead doesn’t scare you in the least; in fact, it has a way of pulling you forward. You’ll work faster than ever and with great clarity of thought.

SCORPIO (Oct. 24-Nov. 21). Life experience makes you a better worker, artist and person. Also, there’s no substitute — you can’t get life experience in a book. Strive to pick up firsthand knowledge wherever you can get it.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21). Don’t let your options intimidate you. These are not irreversible choices. Whichever way you go, you can always decide differently tomorrow or next week.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19). Ancient history and people you used to know will influence your current experience. Remember the past, and then release it so it doesn’t keep you stuck. Onward to new adventures!

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18). Are you bouncing from project to project, not seeing anything through to its conclusion? Not everything should be pursued to its conclusion. Today it’s more important to explore.

PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20). Avoid thinking in absolutes. There is more than one way to create the life you want. Your next breakthrough is born out of a willingness to try different methods and walk new paths.

TODAY’S BIRTHDAY (June 22). You’ll be inspired to change your style and upgrade your level of organization next month. There’s a breakthrough in your professional life in August, and you’ll spend most of September adjusting to your good luck. October features fun relationships and new respect from your family and friends. Aquarius and Scorpio people adore you. Your lucky numbers are: 4, 21, 24, 5 and 14.

FORECAST FOR THE WEEK AHEAD: It is the first full week of the Cancer solar journey for 2014, and the main theme is home, sweet home — specifically, how to make it better. There’s a compassionate and maternal energy in the heavens to support our sense of belonging. This motherly vibe is also like the voice of conscience that suggests we clean up, get along and do the basic maintenance to achieve a pleasant domestic existence.

Mercury is still retrograde, and yet with the new moon in Cancer on June 27, it doesn’t feel right to forestall the projects that will make our lives more beautiful, comfortable and smooth. Whatever stands between you and domestic bliss, this is the time to clear it up. For some, relationships need to be healed, and this is the perfect time to forgive and forget. This is a process, so don’t expect that one grand gesture or decision will make everything better. Instead, think of the long term. With small and constant improvements, we eventually will get to a harmonious and lovely place.

CELEBRITY PROFILES: She is widely considered to be the world’s greatest living actress, but moonchild Meryl Streep is too modest to let such praise keep her from exploring new artistic territory. This year she’ll return to musical roots as the witch in the Christmas release of the film adaptation of Stephen Sondheim’s “Into the Woods.” Streep was born when the sun, Venus and Uranus were all in soulful, maternal Cancer.
