Aries New Moon

The new moon in the firstborn sign of the zodiac is an opportunity to embark on a fresh mission. If the quest happens to involve a prize you never thought you could have, all the better. This dark moon has a way of making perceived limits disappear in the shadows of your mind while illuminating the glittering possibilities.

ARIES (March 21-April 19). You’ll be protective of your hangout time and rightly so. When you don’t have the luxury of long stretches of unscheduled time, it’s only natural to be picky about with whom you spend it and how.

TAURUS (April 20-May 20). The moment you know someone has submitted to your charms is wonderful, especially when you weren’t trying. And in today’s case, you didn’t even know you were being charming until results proved otherwise.

GEMINI (May 21-June 21). Your active, agile mind will challenge the notion of linear time. You’ll explore the past, leap into the future and then dance with what’s going on right now all in the span of a few minutes.

CANCER (June 22-July 22). Every once in a while the people you count on let you down. This may be preventable through clear communication. If not, it will be easier to graciously forgive when the mistake is similar to one you’ve made yourself.

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22). Your service to others is often pleasurable, sometimes thankless and always an exercise in self-sacrifice and ego-extinction. Paradoxically, by losing your need to feel important, you’ll gain a position of actual importance.

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22). You’ll experience the way music sticks to everything. A particular beat can be like the harness of a parasail, pulling you up and bouncing you around. One song will bring back an entire chapter of your life.

LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 23). Like the butterfly that is one of your sign’s totem animals, your day is a series of flits and landings, mostly in the center of lovely experiences that open like blossoms to welcome you.

SCORPIO (Oct. 24-Nov. 21). It is better to tell a person what you plan to do next in regard to your relationship than to catch this person off guard with your action. Don’t worry — you won’t ruin the effect. You’ll build anticipation.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21). Telling stories is a way to bond in love. The story doesn’t have to be profound or hilarious; it just has to be about you and the people you love. It’s part of who you are together.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19). The treadmill of your day is like an actual treadmill in that when you jump off, your body needs time to adjust to the floor in all its stillness. You will move and behave differently on solid ground.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18). You’re not in the mood to be told what to do by anyone at all, not even you. It’s better not to even seek or tolerate advice, because hearing it will only make you want to do the opposite.

PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20). Don’t bother guessing what bothers people, because you probably won’t get it right today. Anyway, why does it have to be your job to keep people from being bothered? Give it a rest, at least for now.

TODAY’S BIRTHDAY (March 30). You believe in yourself and what you can do. Your confidence will lead to greater satisfaction, happiness, laughter and all that goes with the lighter side of life. This summer you’ll return to a place where you used to live and gather ideas for your future work. In September, you’ll implement changes to your lifestyle. Virgo and Scorpio people adore you. Your lucky numbers are: 9, 40, 22, 14 and 38.

FORECAST FOR THE WEEK AHEAD: There are many different interpretations of this Aries new moon, which happens to cross into an aspect involving Uranus, Pluto and Jupiter. Some say it signifies difficulties with the new moon ritual of wiping the slate clean and will be more like wiping the slate with the wrong cleaning product and making a cloudy, streaky mess of things. I prefer to stay optimistic, which is why I predict that if anything is cloudy and streaky, it will be your awareness of your past mistakes. They happened, they’re over, and the more you dwell on the positive future you are creating the easier it will be to do so.

An April 2, a meeting of the sun and Aries suggests unexpected eruptions that may be negative or positive but are absolutely necessary either way. You may find yourself in fits of giggles or swimming in a friend’s frustration or stuck in a traffic jam caused by the popularity of an event. You may have your own burst of sudden insight or anger. This will be the kind of eruption that, after the fact, you’ll look back on and see that for better or worse you wouldn’t have wanted it to happen any other way.

CELEBRITY PROFILES: At the top of her career as one of the most successful voices in pop music, Celine Dion took a hiatus to focus on her family. The angel-voiced Aries prioritized wisely and wound up with a happy family life and a new career cycle, having created one of the most successful shows Las Vegas has ever known. Dion was born when the moon and Mars were in Taurus, which rules the voice.
