Mother’s Day

This will be one of the more complicated Mother’s Days, as the cosmic alignments promise to keep family dynamics changing quickly. Whether the blips are for the better or worse will depend entirely on interpretation. One success strategy is to assume that everyone is going for kindness and authenticity and to forgive those who fall short.

ARIES (March 21-April 19). How do you know something is really good? That’s easy. You can’t hold onto it. If it’s really good, you have to keep creating a relationship with it over and over.

TAURUS (April 20-May 20). Your heart is happy even though your circumstances aren’t exactly what you wanted. In the end, you’ll likely decide that the strange twist things took was for the best.

GEMINI (May 21-June 21). Fiction will play an important role in the way you think. What delights your imagination may not delight you if you were to try it in real life, but the fantasy still positively affects your life.

CANCER (June 22-July 22). The need for approval and acceptance is basic. You may wish you didn’t want them from certain people, but you do. That doesn’t make you weak; it makes you human.

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22). Your mood is thoughtful. Your reactions to things may take longer than usual because you want to let things sink in. Understanding the deeper levels and meanings is important to you.

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22). You have many friends and shouldn’t be shy about reaching out to them. You’ll get the cooperation you need to launch a venture or at least to put a few of the preliminaries in place.

LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 23). You may be tempted to close a door when openness would create a better outcome. The uncomfortable choice is the right one. It certainly would be more interesting to investigate.

SCORPIO (Oct. 24-Nov. 21). After you make your point — and you will have many to make over the course of the day — don’t forget to wait for a response. It’s the responses of others that will illuminate the path to the success you desire.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21). Rushing leads to mistakes. That’s why it’s important to plan your day with wide margins. Much will depend on your ability to reasonably assess what is possible to accomplish in a given amount of time.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19). It may feel as though you are working at cross-purposes with another, and yet you really have more common ground than you think. Talk it out. There’s a way in which you both can win.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18). Technology upgrades sometimes don’t wind up truly being better. You’ll have dealings with artificial intelligence that is not smart in the way you need it to be, and it will be your natural intelligence that sets things straight.

PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20). There’s a huge swell of emotion that fills your chest when you think about doing what you love. Great passion is necessary to do great things. It’s not the only ingredient, but it’s an important one.

TODAY’S BIRTHDAY (May 11). Your social attitudes and behavior help you succeed in business this month. Marriage, romance and other partnerships will be a source of joy in June. Those younger than you will have a positive influence on your self-improvement efforts. A debt will be repaid in August, which is also the ideal time to sign a contract or buy a home. Leo and Scorpio people adore you. Your lucky numbers are: 50, 3, 22, 14 and 6

FORECAST FOR THE WEEK AHEAD: The full Scorpio moon on Wednesday poses a cosmic question we’ll be answering for the rest of the week: Are you willing to give up what you identify with, love and accept as reality for what might be? As this closure moon reflects the tenacious Taurus sun, the desire to end well and finish strong dominates our action. Clean closure means making good on all commitments, tending to the details and being present through the whole process. It also means knowing when to let go. The Taurus sun will resist this part. The phrase for Taurus is “I have,” and under this sky, we can be like puppies confusing the physics of fetch. We can’t “have” and “fetch” at the same time. If we don’t drop the ball, no one has a chance to throw it for us. But we love the ball, and we don’t want to drop it. So there’s a lot of back and forth as the universe urges us to “drop it” and we settle into the reality that “dropping it” is what’s really needed in order for the fun to continue.

CELEBRITY PROFILES: Disney star Sabrina Carpenter is a triple threat whose singing, acting and dancing careers seem to be taking off all at once. The star of “Girl Meets World” and “Just Dance Kids 2” just dropped a new album called “Can’t Blame a Girl for Trying.” Carpenter has her sun, Mercury and Saturn all in Taurus, the sign of the voice. Her Mercury is in artistic Pisces, and her lucky Jupiter is in high-energy Aries.
