Venus Dances Into Leo

As love goddess Venus dances into Leo, the sign of the heart, she’s suddenly a free spirit, playful and dazzlingly creative. Sure, she craves attention, but she’s also willing to earn it. She will argue that love is nothing more than a quality of attention, and she will command a concentrated effort as she strives to be brave and fascinating.

ARIES (March 21-April 19). Must there be one winner and one loser? If that is the case, it’s a very small game. Open it wider. Invite more players. Your skills deserve a bigger venue.

TAURUS (April 20-May 20). The tension is mostly between you and a certain someone. You are not adversaries, just two people addressing individual needs. There is a way to get both needs met, so keep talking.

GEMINI (May 21-June 21). There is stiff competition for the goal you have your eye on. Set the bar higher than you think you can achieve, because this is the kind of ambition it takes to succeed.

CANCER (June 22-July 22). The one who seems emotionally unreachable will have the most appeal now. Everyone loves a challenge, but you are the one best equipped to reach out to those remote souls.

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22). Expect perplexing entanglements and ridiculous disagreements. Maybe it’s just more fun when it’s a bit complicated, but you’ll feel compelled to stick to your guns.

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22). Some enjoy debate for its own sake — but not you, at least not now. The ones who take issue just for the fun of verbal volleying will get on your last nerve. Flee the scene. Go to your happy place.

LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 23). Pause before you illuminate the facts. Here’s a metaphor: Flash photography is harmful to some animals and ruinous to some artifacts and fine art, too. Ultra-bright light tends to change things.

SCORPIO (Oct. 24-Nov. 21). You used to feel you were so far away from another person’s point of view, but now the gaps will close without compromise to your integrity. You’ll find this liberating. There’s more than one right way.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21). Small accomplishments lead to bigger ones. Expansive energies are working in your favor. Your exceptional observational skills give you an edge, too.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19). An alluring new person could distract you from your main focus — and it’s so much more fun when you wander off course. But what about your intentions? Just don’t let things go too far.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18). There’s an all-for-one-and-one-for-all feeling to the day. At the very least, most people are open to asking, accepting or offering help. Why try to do it all yourself when there are others who can do it faster and better for a small fee?

PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20). There’s no such thing as “acting normal”; there’s only “doing you.” It’s clear to you what that means today. Among the conforming masses, you remain happily, uniquely yourself.

TODAY’S BIRTHDAY (Aug. 12). There’s a numbers game going on in September. You’ll wish the digits were higher or lower and then do what it takes to make that happen. October is for professional advancement. You’ll brush up on your skills until they are razor sharp. December brings family reunions. Singles experience exciting new love. Scorpio and Sagittarius people adore you. Your lucky numbers are: 4, 24, 39, 3 and 16.

ASTROLOGICAL QUESTIONS: “This is embarrassing. I suddenly had an overwhelming crush on a certain guy, and it lasted for three weeks. He was all I thought about. I couldn’t even look at him without turning red. Then I got up the nerve to talk to him. And he was really nice. We went on one date — to the sandwich shop and the movies — and it was just OK. But now he’s calling me all the time, and honestly I feel almost grossed out by him. My friends are amazed. They even called me ‘ditzy’! How could I be soooo into someone one day and then just drop him like a hood the next day? And will I always be this way? Sometimes I wish I weren’t a Gemini.”

The twins can definitely be two minds, but that’s not a bad thing — and it’s certainly not ‘ditzy.’ The ancient Greek brainiac Aristotle said, “It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it.” That is what you were doing in this case: entertaining the idea of this relationship. And you couldn’t really know what it would be like to date him until you actually did date him. Now you know. So tell your friends to stop being so hard on you!

CELEBRITY PROFILES: Two of the Cimorelli sisters share an August 12 birthday: Lauren, born in 1998, and Christina, born in 1990. The siblings are part of a family singing group and Internet sensation that comprises six sisters who love to harmonize. Lauren is a Leo with a high-energy, youthful Aries moon. Christina is a Leo with a Taurus moon, indicating excellent rhythm and a down-to-earth style.
