Mercury/Saturn Square of Ulterior Motives

For most humans, considering someone’s facial expression takes less than a sixth of a second, and that’s not including the subconscious processing of microexpressions: the split-second expressions we make while processing or concealing our emotions. Mercury and Saturn angle to bring awareness of ulterior motives.

ARIES (March 21-April 19). One reason we idolize top athletes, artists and performers in all areas of life is because they have displayed high levels of self-discipline and focus. You have similar powers within you now.

TAURUS (April 20-May 20). Just as you can strike a beautiful, energetic and alert posture with your body, you can do the same with your mind. Indeed, you’ll need to do so, as today’s challenges will require a high quality of attention.

GEMINI (May 21-June 21). You haven’t had the right incentive to change a weak habit yet, but today you’ll find the inspiration you need, likely in the form of a user-friendly method or tool.

CANCER (June 22-July 22). It is a function of immaturity to want immediate results. The most desirable outcomes often take patience and persistence. Use this as a guiding principle, and you’ll cut out the options that don’t lead to success.

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22). Some would rather make people believe they are good than actually do what it takes to be good. Be aware that not everyone around you cares to be virtuous, protect yourself accordingly, and happily avoid trouble.

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22). You may feel slightly rudderless, but you’ll find direction in life by organizing your motivations, both conscious and unconscious. You may find that two key motivators are clashing and producing tension for you.

LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 23). Your need to be involved with others is increased now. Though you may prefer the involvement to be about friendship, love and camaraderie, you will also be very satisfied if the involvement is business.

SCORPIO (Oct. 24-Nov. 21). How do you send the right message when it’s so difficult to totally control your body language, expression, tone and exact words? The easiest way is to believe what you say and say what you believe.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21). If you don’t feel courageous or particularly motivated to move forward, more than likely the real problem is that you’re tired. Get extra sleep tonight, and tomorrow you’ll feel much better.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19). If you’ve ever seen a driver go bonkers over a stolen parking spot, you understand how people can become too focused on succeeding and lose a true sense of perspective. Go for the win, within reason.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18). Stop straining for an answer. It will come to you when you’re relaxed. The same is true of knocking yourself out to achieve results. Take the kinder, gentler route. Do the work while being good to yourself.

PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20). It is comfortable to view your situation the way you always have; using that old frame of mind is also limiting and inefficient. Reach out to someone who might help you break open the realm of possibilities.

TODAY’S BIRTHDAY (March 11). You’ve been many people in your lifetime, but the person you become this year will be an essential part of your legacy on the planet. You’ll be funded this month to educate yourself or develop a project. April brings the completion of a goal and new friends. Summer is a whirlwind of romance, duty and family celebration. Leo and Scorpio people adore you. Your lucky numbers are: 2, 25, 41, 7 and 33.

ASTROLOGICAL QUESTIONS: In response to yesterday’s question about the meaning of birthmarks, the reading continues…

“Seven of (my moles) are small dark moles. I also have what’s called a salmon patch on the back of my neck and head. My mother says I had a Mongolian spot on my buttocks when I was an infant, but I’ve grown out of that.”

Do you feel that in your lifetime you have been spared from accidents — things that could have gone terribly wrong but didn’t? A salmon patch birthmark, also called angel kisses and stork bites, is a common birthmark that usually fades to some degree with age and growth. My moleomancy interpretation of this marking in the placement of the back of your head and neck is that you have been favored and cradled by the fates, and the Mongolian spot on your buttocks is part of the same sign. In the act of cradling, the bottom and the back of the head are the crucial points of support. These marks make me imagine you in your spiritual infancy being held tight, loved, cradled and protected by powerful maternal spirits. A favorite of the spirits, their protection is continuous.

CELEBRITY PROFILES: Award-winning recording artist Emeli Sande has also written songs for Alicia Keys, Susan Boyle, Rihanna and others. This musical Pisces was born when communication planet Mercury was also in that spiritual realm. Her homebody Cancer moon suggests that the hardest part of being an international star is traveling. Sande’s natal Mars is in Taurus, the sign that rules the voice.
